It actually causes the organism to develop half (or part) of its body as one sex, and the other half as the other. Another form is mosaic were you have splotches of dimorphic tissues anywhere on the body. Gynandromorphism usually occurs when a cell splits its sex chromosomes unevenly amongst it sisters.
